Doctor Steve Goninan has been a chiropractor practicing in Georgia since 2002. He has worked at clinics in Lawrenceville, Marble Hill and is currently practicing in east Cherokee county.

Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Dr. Steve, as he’s affectionately known (because no one can pronounce his last name) lives in Cumming, GA with his wife of ten years and their four children. He calls Cumming “my favorite place I’ve ever lived.”

He attended college at the University of South Carolina at Aiken and graduated in 1995 cum laude. He then joined the work force for nearly three years before he came to what he calls a “crossroads” in his life.

According to Dr. Steve, “I just didn’t have a sense of satisfaction or pride with my professional or personal lives. I didn’t feel like I was doing what I was meant to do.”

His journey took him to Atlanta, GA where he entered the chiropractic program at Life University.

“At first, I had no idea if a career in chiropractic was right for me,” Dr. Steve says. “I simply didn’t know enough about it. I thought I would just attend Life for one quarter and see if it was right for me. If I didn’t feel that chiropractic was a match for me, then I was planning on going to music school to try and make it as a professional drummer. At that time I had been playing drums for 11 years. It’s still one of my favorite things to do.

“But within a week of my first quarter, I was hooked on chiropractic. Everything about the philosophy of chiropractic – tapping into the natural healing power of the body, living in a state of proactive health versus a state of reactive sickness – matched my own personal philosophy. The science geek in me also loved the science behind chiropractic.”

He married Mary Lynne Glover in December of 1999 and upon graduating cum laude from Life University in December 2001, he and Mary Lynne welcomed their first child one month later. Three months later Dr. Steve began practicing in Lawrenceville, GA.

Now with two kids and one on the way, the Goninans moved to Cumming, GA in the summer of 2006. In 2008 Dr. Steve began practicing in the Marble Hill/Big Canoe area in northern Georgia. That same year, he and Mary Lynne welcomed their fourth child into their family.

Now based in Canton, Georgia Dr. Steve alternates his time between work and a very active home life. Of his journey to becoming a doctor Dr. Steve sums it up by saying, “I feel very strongly that I was meant to be a chiropractor. Sometimes you pick a career and other times the career picks you. I definitely feel a larger hand guided me into chiropractic, and I’m so grateful that it did. I’ve got to meet and help so many interesting people in the seven years that I’ve been in practice. I’ve learned so much and I can’t wait to continue the journey in my new clinic, Integrity Chiropractic.”
